When you or someone you love needs emergency assistance, a simple press of the Lifeline button can bring help fast! Worn around the neck or wrist, the waterproof button can summon medical or fire personnel 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Mid Coast Lifeline, based at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, 58 Baribeau Drive in Brunswick, Maine, has provided emergency response service to thousands of residents in the Midcoast Region for almost 40 years. The system is compatible with either a landline telephone or a cellphone.
When the button is pressed a signal is sent to a communicator unit in the home. Trained operators at the Lifeline Call Center in Framingham, Massachusetts speak to the subscriber over the home communicator unit, assess the emergency, and send local emergency service personnel, or a neighbor, a friend, or relative to the home depending on the situation.
The waterproof personal help button works in and around the home. The communicator has a back-up battery that provides 48 hours of service during a power outage. Mid Coast Lifeline provides installation and deactivation of the service, as well as maintenance calls, at no cost. Installation usually takes less than an hour.
The monthly charge for the service, which includes the rental of the equipment, is $42, which can be paid by check or credit card. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. There is no contract to sign – subscribers are billed month to month and can have it for any length of time.
