Following
a hospitalization, a patient may need further time and assistance
in regaining strength. The services provided by Bodwell’s
care giving staff are designed to help patients fulfill a
desire to return home, if possible, by evaluating the needs
of the patient and implementing a personalized therapy program.
The staff works in consultation with a Medical Director/Geriatrician
; a nurse practitioner; social worker; rehabilitation specialists;
and nursing staff to determine the most appropriate needs
as the patient completes his or her stay at Bodwell Nursing
and Rehabilitation.
Three types of therapy are offered at Bodwell:
- Physical Therapy (PT)
- Physical therapists specialize in movement and function
as it relates to strength and mobility.
- Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Occupational therapists are experts at the essential
activities of daily living (eating, dressing, bathing,
household or work-related tasks, etc).
- Speech Therapy (ST)
- Speech/language pathologists focus on language, voice
and speech disorders, the mechanics of swallowing and
cognitive function.
